Music and PE

MUSIC

Musical training helps develop language and reasoning, improves memory, focus and coordination and can be relaxing for students even while challenging. Music is a complex area of study that helps with emotional development, building empathy and can increase self-esteem in students. MPUSD recognizes that the study of music is an significant part of a well-rounded education and has committed the staff and resources to enable this effort.

At Marshall, we currently have weekly music instruction for TK-6th grades. In addition to this, optional instruction in a choice of 7 instruments is offered to all 5th and 6th grade students. The choices are cello, violin, flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone and baritone. The district provides instruments to 1300 instrumental students.

PE

All of our grade levels enjoy PE once a week with a variety of games, sports, and equipment to engage our students and work on their athletic abilities. On every full day of school, students also participate in a Trek and Connect activity where they are able to connect with their classmates and enjoy walking together as a class.
